Lucasfilm announced today that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will no longer helm Star Wars Episode IX. In a statement released today, Lucasfilm said that they had “mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX.” Lucasfilm went on to praise Trevorrow as a “wonderful collaborator throughout the development process” but admitted that their visions for the film differed. No new director has been announced. A new writer, Jack Thorne, was also reportedly hired. Director Colin Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly had written the most recent draft of the script. Trevorrow previously directed Jurassic World and, most recently, The Book of Henry.
