Like every Soulcalibur game prior to this installment, Soulcalibur VI fights take place on a 3D-plane where fighters clash with various weapons. Soulcalibur VI introduces a new gameplay mechanic called the Reversal Edge, which acts similarly to the combo breaker in Killer Instinct and the Burst mechanic seen in Arc System Works’ fighters. When executed, the Reversal Edge will showcase the counter-attack in a dynamic camera view. The 8-Way Run movement system that has been in the franchise since the first Soulcalibur will be returning in this installment. The Ring-Out mechanic which was absent in the F2P spin-off entry Soulcalibur: Lost Swords also makes its return.
