EA have announced that they are to release a sizeable free update to the Ultimate Team game mode of FIFA 14 on May 29, two weeks ahead of the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Players will be able to build a squad from players across all of the 32 teams set to compete in Brazil and lead their team through both the group stages and the knockout phase of the tournament.

As in the standard Ultimate Team mode, you’ll have to continually strengthen your team by buying Packs that contain new players, consumables and ways of customizing your team. You can either pay for these packs with real money, or with coins that you earn by winning matches online or against the computer.

Ultimate Team World Cup packs will feature a bevy of new content—all 32 National Team crests and kits are being added to the mode, as well as the official adidas® Brazuca match ball and the Estadio do Maracana, where the World Cup Final will take place on July 13. Any packs bought in the World Cup version of Ultimate Team will include a complimentary pack for use in the standard Ultimate Team mode.

Last month, EA released the official 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil video game, but this update is for the regular FIFA 14 released last year. The update will be available on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
