Belgian website 4Gamers reports that, in addition, their office has received physical materials pertaining to the countdown also. Beyond that, not much is known about what the website is referring to. Digging into the source code of the site exposes a list of gaming platforms including just about every major system currently on the market—it’s difficult to say whether this means the project will indeed release on all these platforms, or if this is simply misdirection.

It’s certainly intriguing that the countdown will run out so close to E3, typically a hotspot for gaming announcements and reveals. It could well turn out that the reveal on May 30 will lead into more information about the game being delivered at E3 in June.

As you might imagine, speculation is already running rampant as to what exactly ProjectV1 is. Early discussion on popular gaming forum and media outlet NeoGAF has prompted speculation that the helmeted figure behind the countdown timer is everyone from Sega Genesis protagonist Vectorman to cult favorite Capcom hero Viewtiful Joe.

At present, it’s not clear whether ProjectV1 is even related to an established series, so it may well be that all this speculation is already heading off in the wrong direction. Artistry in Games will be following any developments relating to ProjectV1 in the days to come.
